Instructions

Theme: Half colour, half wild

  1. This is a great variation! It is a lot of fun to work with two Tapa walls at the same time, and the wildcard clues provide an additional layer of obfuscation on top of that. I'd be very happy to see more of those. Do you think that you could make one with wildcard clues only?

The puzzle itself is very pretty to look at, with a smooth, logical solving path that serves as a nice introduction to the variation. Thank you!

  2. Thanks Nikolai, I agree that I like the way the wildcard clues interact, and there is a huge amount of potential in this variant - more colours (I'd love to see one using 3, 4 or even 5 colours, maybe on a larger grid), changing the ratio of colour clues and wildcard clue etc. My thoughts are that there needs to be at least one colour cell, just to establish what colours are being used, otherwise, they'd be interchangeable.

If you're interested, there is a second one on the blog, done way back in 2013!

  3. Just solved it!

Yes, of course, you're right, colours would be interchangeable. Though perhaps at least the two Tapa walls' shapes could be uniquely determined.
